Job summary

AHRC Nassau in Freeport, NY is seeking a Food Service Assistant to help prepare meals for the Freeport Vocational Center and Meals on Wheels. You will assist the Food Services Supervisor with cooking, heating, slicing, and ensuring meals are ready for participants and staff.

Responsibilities include setting up meals, completing kitchen cleanup, assisting with inventories, and following food safety procedures.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• NYS Driver’s License required.
• Food service experience preferred.
• Must have basic math skills (adding/subtracting/multiplying/dividing).

Responsibilities

• Assists Food Services Supervisor in preparing food, cooking, heating, mixing, slicing, etc., to ensure meals are available for participants and staff.
• Assists in the preparation and setup for Meals on Wheels, ensuring quality and quantity guidelines are followed.
• Performs kitchen cleanup tasks and stores prepared food following safe handling procedures.
• Counts inventories in storage areas to ensure sufficient food supply for the next day.
• Performs other duties as requested by supervisor or administration.
