Job summary

The Viscardi Center in Nassau County seeks a full-time Food Service Assistant who will help prepare breakfast and lunch for HVS students. You will work closely with the line-cook, prep orders, and ensure meals are ready for service.

Responsibilities include operating the cash register, handling money, restocking supplies, maintaining a clean kitchen, and providing coverage as needed. Hours are 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday; weekends are not required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• Prior food service experience and cash handling skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation of foods for HVS students' breakfast and lunch.
• Provide support to the Line-Cook by preparing breakfast orders, salads, and other food items for customers.
• Maintain a clean work environment at all times by cleaning counters, cooking areas, removing waste, and maintaining cleanliness of equipment, cases, etc.
• Operate the cash register to assist customers with their purchases and ensure transactions are accurate.
• Restock vending machines, refrigerators, and utensils.
• Keep inventory of products and alert the supervisor to reorder.
• Provide coverage and prepare meals in the absence of the cafeteria supervisor or line cook.
• Also, provide coverage at the cash register as necessary.
• The hours are 7:00 am - 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday (no weekends).
