Job summary

Central Texas Food Bank, Inc. is seeking a dedicated kitchen helper to prepare meals according to program guidelines and to orient volunteers and interns.

The role involves manual labor and collaboration with the Meal Production team to ensure quality and safety in every meal prepared. Reporting to the Meal Production Manager, you will assist in cooking, labeling, and packing meals for CACFP/SFSP and national school programs, while upholding food safety standards and supporting a mission-driven

Qualifications

• 1+ year of food service experience or completion of a Culinary arts program.
• Food Handler certification or ability to obtain within 15 days of hire.
• Ability to work with staff, volunteers and vendors to maintain food safety and quality.
• High volume food production experience.
• Child nutrition program experience (CACEP and SFSP).
• Leadership experience or experience working with volunteers.
• Texas driver’s license preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist Production Chef in preparing meals per USDA and regulatory guidelines.
• Ensure meals are prepared, portioned, packaged and labeled accurately.
• Perform prep work: wash, peel, cut fruits/vegetables.
• Maintain kitchen equipment and environment to health standards.
• Follow waste management, sanitation, and safety procedures.
• Assist with inventory and reporting; support close of operations.
