Job summary

Beecan Health in West Des Moines, IA is seeking a dedicated MDS Coordinator to join our healthcare team. The role focuses on coordinating assessment and documentation of patient care needs in long-term care settings, ensuring regulatory compliance and accurate reimbursement.

You will work with nursing, therapy, and medical staff, use EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth, and stay current with CMS/HIPAA rules to support quality outcomes and patient care.

Qualifications

• Iowa RN license or LPN certificate is required.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; CPR certification.
• Prior MDS Coordinator experience.
• One year RN/LPN experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility.

Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments of residents' clinical status using the MDS tool to ensure accurate data collection and documentation.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to gather information for MDS completion.
• Ensure timely submission of completed MDS assessments per regulatory deadlines.
• Review medical records, treatment plans, and clinical documentation for accuracy.
• Maintain knowledge of HIPAA, CMS regulations, and long-term care standards.
• Utilize EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth for documentation and data management.
• Support quality improvement initiatives through data analysis of MDS outcomes and compliance metrics.
