Job summary

J. Morrissey & Company, Inc. is seeking a MDS Coordinator to manage comprehensive MDS assessments in accordance with CMS and CT regulations.

You will coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure accurate documentation and timely submissions, supporting appropriate reimbursement and quality resident outcomes. The role requires an active CT RN license, MDS Coordinator certification, and 1–2 years of long-term care experience.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in CT
• MDS Coordinator Certification (e.g., RAC-CT) or willingness to obtain
• 1–2 years of clinical experience in long-term care or skilled nursing
• Strong knowledge of MDS 3.0, RAI process, and CMS regulations
• Experience with PDPM reimbursement model
• Experience with EMR/EHR systems such as PointClickCare or MatrixCare

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, complete, and submit accurate MDS assessments (admission, quarterly, annual, significant change, discharge)
• Ensure CMS/state regulations compliance related to MDS/RAI processes
• Review clinical documentation to support MDS coding accuracy and reimbursement
• Monitor ARD schedules and assessment reference dates
• Lead or participate in interdisciplinary care plan meetings
• Collaborate with nursing, therapy, social services, dietary, and other disciplines to develop comprehensive care plans
• Monitor quality indicators and assist with quality improvement initiatives
• Educate staff on documentation requirements and MDS processes
