Summary
The Restorative Nurse is responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring, and supervising the restorative nursing program for the facility. Acts as a liaison between therapy and nursing, promoting a restorative nursing philosophy across departments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and implementing nursing care policies in line with the facility's goals.
- Evaluate the quality of nursing care and recommend improvements.
- Conduct daily rounds to monitor patient care and staff performance.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
- Perform rehabilitation assessments for new and existing patients regularly.
- Oversee functional evaluations and develop restorative care plans.
- Ensure restorative measures are documented in care plans.
- Collaborate with therapy departments and ensure recommendations are followed through.
- Review documentation for residents receiving restorative services.
- Manage incontinent programs and participate in care planning conferences.
- Attend interdisciplinary meetings and provide feedback on restorative needs.
- Orient and educate staff on restorative nursing practices.
- Participate in fall prevention and restraint reduction programs.
- Set up documentation flow sheets for restorative nursing.
- Supervise restorative nursing staff and serve as liaison with therapy teams.
- Participate in patient care planning and serve as Medicare Services Coordinator as needed.
- Ensure high-quality, compassionate care for patients and families.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of restorative nursing experience required.
- Current Restorative Nurse certification preferred.
- Must be a registered nurse with the State Board of Nursing.
- Current CPR certification required.
Physical Demands
- Ability to move intermittently and cope with job stress.
- Work independently with flexibility and integrity.
- Work effectively with residents and staff, including those who are ill, disabled, or emotionally upset.
- Ability to lift and move at least 25 pounds and assist in emergency evacuations.
- Moderate noise level in the work environment.
