Hope For Youth has an exciting and rare Therapist position opening in its PINS Diversion program. The Nassau County PINS (Person In Need of Supervision) Diversion program is designed to divert youth who are at risk from PINS petitions that require court involvement. It serves families with children up to age 18 in Nassau County, addressing issues like school truancy, gang involvement, runaway behaviors, mental health, and substance abuse.

The program provides short-term, intensive, family-centered interventions aimed at preventing out-of-home placements, teaching problem-solving skills, and linking families to community-based care systems. A unique aspect of this program is the incorporation of Multidimensional Family Therapy (MDFT), an evidence-based model for youth with mental health and substance abuse issues. Paid training in MDFT is provided during work hours at no cost to the therapist.

Responsibilities of MDFT Therapists:

1. Work within agency policies and procedures, providing support and skills to families to maintain children at home.
2. Achieve successful outcomes in accordance with NYS, County, and HFY policies.
3. Perform necessary work to meet client, program, and regulatory needs.

Typical Duties:

1. Develop comprehensive clinical treatment plans for youth with high behavioral and trauma acuity.
2. Provide individual services to up to 12 clients at a time, with a total of up to 50 cases annually.
3. Conduct home, community, or office-based interventions, including collateral contacts.
4. Prepare assessments, treatment plans, and documentation of contacts and progress.
5. Physical requirements include reading/writing reports, walking, standing, sitting, and driving.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Licensed Therapist (LMSW, LCSW, LMHC, LMFT).
• Spanish and English preferred.
• Experience preferred; training provided in MDFT.
• Valid NYS Driver's License.

Additional Skills:

• Excellent communication and computer skills.
• Flexible schedule and ability to participate in team meetings.
• Experience with adolescents and child-serving systems.
• Willingness to travel as needed.

Compensation and Benefits:

The salary is based on a 35-hour work week, with flexible hours, remote and field work. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, paid time off, pension, training, tuition assistance, and more.
