Job Description

This is a full-time position with a 35-hour workweek and a flexible/hybrid schedule.

The Juvenile Justice Services Program includes case management, restorative justice conferences, and clinical services for PINS, Juvenile Offenders, Juvenile Delinquents, JD-Raise, and Adolescent Offenders, referred by Nassau County Probation Department. The program offers family-focused treatment services proven effective in addressing delinquency risk factors.

Multi-Dimensional Family Therapy (MDFT) is an SAMHSA-approved evidence-based treatment model designed for adolescents with substance abuse and behavioral issues. It aims to eliminate substance abuse, reduce oppositional behaviors, and improve family functioning.

The MDFT therapist will develop comprehensive treatment plans based on intake and assessments, providing individual services to up to 10 clients at a time, with a total of up to 40 cases annually.

To succeed as an MDFT therapist, you must always:

  1. Follow policies and procedures outlined in the practice guide and employee manual.
  2. Comply with state regulations and the code of conduct.
  3. Work within an interdisciplinary team to support client functioning.
  4. Deliver services in a trauma-informed, culturally, and linguistically competent manner.
  5. Use the MDFT model for individual and family therapy.
  6. Attend case meetings or present reports.
  7. Participate in trainings and meetings as required.
  8. Provide in-home, community, and office treatments.
  9. Be willing and able to learn various Evidence-Based Interventions, especially MDFT.
  10. Perform additional tasks to meet client, program, and regulatory needs.

Minimum qualifications include:

  1. LMSW/LCSW/LMHC/LMFT certification.
  2. At least 1 year of experience working with children or adolescents.
  3. A valid NYS Driver's License in good standing.
  4. Proficiency with electronic records and computer use.
  5. Physical ability to read/write reports, walk, stand, sit, bend, kneel, climb stairs, reach overhead, perform repetitive movements, and drive.
