Job summary

Brockton Public Schools is seeking an Internal McKinney-Vento Educational Resource Coordinator for the middle schools (Plouffe, South, West). Starting immediately, the role is after school/evening funded by the McKinney-Vento Grant FC310 and requires collaboration with school staff and community partners.

The coordinator will identify eligible students, connect families with resources, and monitor needs to ensure academic engagement and access to services.

Qualifications

• Current teacher, guidance/adjustment counselor, nurse or administrator of Brockton Public Schools.
• Familiarity with community resources, school-based supports, and after-school programs.
• Understanding and willingness to learn about McKinney-Vento regulations and the needs of students experiencing homelessness.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, school staff, and community partners.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Identify students who may be eligible for McKinney-Vento services in collaboration with school administration, counselors, teachers, and staff.
• Support students and families by addressing needs related to food, clothing, school supplies, transportation, housing, and other basic necessities.
• Serve as a school-based point of contact for McKinney-Vento students and connect them with school and community resources.
• Monitor student needs, attendance, and engagement and report barriers to the District McKinney-Vento and Foster Care Liaison.
• Coordinate and refer McKinney-Vento-eligible students to community resources (food, housing, mental health, etc.).
• Maintain relationships with partners and identify new resources; communicate resources in accessible formats and multiple languages.
• Assist in identifying students needing academic support and coordinating tutoring, after-school programs, clubs, and enrichment activities.
• Support outreach to students affected by housing instability or frequent transitions and encourage participation in school activities.
