The above-captioned position is available through FY27 McKinney-Vento Grant FC310 funding.
Qualifications
- 1. Current teacher, guidance/adjustment counselor, nurse or administrator of Brockton Public Schools.
- 2. Familiarity with community resources, school-based supports, and after-school programs.
- 3. Understanding and willingness to learn about McKinney-Vento regulations and the needs of students experiencing homelessness.
- 4. Ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, school staff, and community partners.
- 5. Strong organizational and communication skills.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- 1. Identification and Student Support
- a. Collaborate with school administration, counselors, teachers, and other staff to identify students who may be eligible for McKinney-Vento services.
- b. Support students and families by identifying needs related to food, clothing, school supplies, transportation, housing, and other basic necessities.
- c. Serve as a school-based point of contact for McKinney-Vento students and families and help connect them with appropriate school and community resources.
- d. Monitor student needs, attendance, and school engagement and communicate barriers or concerns to the District McKinney-Vento and Foster Care Liaison.
- 2. Resource Coordination and Referrals
- a. Connect McKinney-Vento-eligible students and families with appropriate community resources and services.
- b. Assist families in accessing food, clothing, hygiene supplies, housing resources, mental health supports, and other available services.
- c. Maintain positive relationships with existing community partners and assist in identifying new resources and partnership opportunities.
- d. Ensure information about available resources and services is communicated to students and families in accessible formats and, when appropriate, multiple languages.
- 3. Academic, Attendance, and Enrichment Activities
- a. Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and school staff to identify McKinney-Vento students in need of additional academic support.
- b. Assist students in accessing tutoring, extra-help, after-school programs, clubs, sports, enrichment activities, summer programs, and other opportunities.
- c. Support targeted outreach to students whose attendance or academic engagement may be affected by housing instability or frequent transitions.
- d. Encourage participation in activities that promote student engagement, belonging, leadership, and connection to the school community.
- 4. Collaboration with District McKinney-Vento and Foster Care Liaison
- a. Maintain accurate records of students served and services provided.
- b. Verify transportation needs for McKinney-Vento-eligible students and promptly communicate any changes or concerns to the District McKinney-Vento and Foster Care Liaison.
- c. Communicate changes or needs related to transportation, attendance, academic support, enrichment activities, or other services.
- d. Notify the District Liaison of barriers affecting students' access to education or school-based services.
- e. Submit required data, documentation, and time records.
- f. Participate in up to two (2) required McKinney-Vento trainings and/or meetings scheduled after regular school hours during the school year.
Compensation
The Middle School McKinney-Vento Educational Resource Coordinator will receive a one-time stipend of $750 for coordinating and supporting McKinney-Vento activities throughout the school year. Duties will be completed in addition to the employee’s regular school responsibilities. Participation in up to two (2) required McKinney-Vento trainings and/or meetings after regular school hours is a condition of the stipend.
