Job summary

The position oversees the daily management of a maximum-security unit at a South Carolina corrections facility. You will supervise staff, manage training, handle case management, and ensure safety, security, and sanitation in a high‑risk environment.

You will monitor inmate behavior, conduct inspections, and chair town hall meetings while building cooperative relationships with peers and subordinates. On-call duties and committee participation are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with supervisory experience required.
• High school diploma with 10 years of related experience acceptable.
• Supervisory role in correctional, security, military, or police work needed.
• Completion of SCDC basic supervisory course within six months.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily management of the maximum-security unit (SSR).
• Supervise staff, training, case management, safety, security, sanitation.
• Monitor inmate behavior and enforce compliance.
• Conduct inspections and ensure policy adherence.
• Chairs town hall meetings and fosters cooperation with staff.
• Build relationships with peers and subordinates.
• Participate in committees and serve as duty officer when needed.
• On-call duties; duties may vary with schedule.
