RTHS seeks a dynamic Math Teacher who is passionate about rigorous, innovative math instruction that prepares students for advanced STEM pathways. Our ideal candidate has an unwavering belief that all students can excel in higher-level mathematics and a commitment to collaborative practices that drive exceptional student outcomes aligned with an innovative STEM education model.

JOB GOAL

The goal of this teaching role is to lead excellent math instruction in lower-level courses such as Math 1 and Math 2, or other lower-level math courses. Math teachers at this level ensure students master the conceptual, procedural, and applied aspects of the North Carolina Standards (NCOS) while preparing them for college-level mathematics, STEM majors, and real-world problem solving.

Math teachers play a critical role in ensuring students:

  • Build advanced algebraic, geometric, and statistical reasoning
  • Apply mathematical literacy to STEM models and design challenges
  • Are ready for college readiness exams and postsecondary STEM pathways

Success in this role includes maximizing student proficiency on state assessments, demonstrating high growth scores, and cultivating confident, capable mathematical thinkers.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Successful RTHS Math Teachers:

  • Embrace the rigor and demands of upper-level math coursework
  • Understand how to support students transitioning into more abstract, analytical, and proof-based reasoning
  • Use innovative, student-centered strategies that build deep conceptual understanding
  • Persist through challenges and continuously refine their practice
  • Foster confidence in students tackling college-preparatory STEM math

As a Math 1-2 teacher, you are helping Lead the Future of STEM Education.
