Job summary

Ronald C. Wornick Jewish Day School in Foster City is seeking a part-time Middle School Math Teacher to begin Oct 26, 2026.

The role covers Math for 6th grade and Geometry, with a focus on progressive instruction and project-based learning. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Education or Math, a teaching credential, and at least three years of teaching experience, with familiarity with CCSS Math standards and strong content knowledge in pre-algebra, algebra, and geometry.

Long Term Substitute - Part Time 8:30 - 11:30 Monday - Friday beginning October 26, 2026

Located in Foster City, Ronald C Wornick Jewish Day School is a pluralistic community day school for students from TK through 8th grade. We are a warm and welcoming community with a collaborative team focused on bettering our school, supporting our students and welcoming our families. Wornick Day School is seeking a Middle School Math Teacher to start October 26th. We are seeking an experienced teacher who has knowledge of progressive educational environments. This is a part time position beginning October 26, 2026 and ending June 11, 2027 for .40 FTE.

The Middle School Math Teacher will

• Teach 2 sections of Math in Middle School: Grade level 6th and High School Geometry
• Provide an instructional program in mathematics based on the needs of each student
• Implement our school adopted programs as the base curriculum for the grade
• Design engaging lessons that implement Project Based Learning
• Create and maintain positive relationships with students, families, and other teachers
• Differentiate effectively for diverse learners in the classroom and follow student learning plans Assess students learning frequently and effectively to ensure grade level standards are being met
• Create engaging lesson and unit plans under the supervision of the Assistant Head of School and other educational leaders at the school
• Document student learning and report home frequently on student assessments and progress
• Utilize multi-modal methods of instruction and learning in recognition of the diverse ways students learn
• Assist the administration in creating a respectful school environment in support of the behavioral and cultural policies of the school
• Provide appropriate and engaging individualized work for students in support of plans created with parents, tutors, aides and specialists
• Collaborate with grade level peers to support students, integrate learning across multiple subject areas and create a holistic grade level experience
• Recognize parents as critical partners in student learning and utilize support services within the school
• Use technology appropriately to advance learning goals
• Attend all staff meetings and fulfill other duties assigned by the Assistant Head of School (recess duties, club supervision, etc.)
• Receive and provide feedback in a professional manner with other school professionals

The ideal candidate will

• Have a degree in Education, Math, Science or a closely related field, Teaching Credential and/or Master’s preferred
• Have at least three years of formal teaching experience
• Have familiarity with Common Core Math standards
• Have strong content knowledge, particularly around pre-Algebra, Algebra, and Geometry
• Have experience in Project Based Learning (certifications are a plus) and other progressive instructional methods
• Have a growth mindset and have a collaborative professional orientation
• Have strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Be excited about professional growth

This position offers a competitive compensation and benefits package including:

• Salary range prorated between $72,000 to $98,000 determined by experience and credentials
