Salem College is seeking a Mathematics adjunct instructor for the Spring 2027 semester. The role teaches up to two Mathematics courses, develops syllabi and CMS content, and evaluates student work. The Mathematics adjunct instructor teaches up to two courses in the Mathematics program, preparing and delivering in-person learning activities designed to achieve course outcomes. Specifically, this position is needed to teach one or both of the following courses during the Spring 2027 semester: elementary functions and graphs and finite mathematics.
The adjunct will develop course materials including a syllabus, homework assignments, and content for the Course Management System (CMS). They will evaluate and grade students’ class work, online work, assignments, and examinations and hold a minimum of two regularly-scheduled office hours per week throughout the semester. They must maintain and submit student attendance records, grades, and other required documentation by specified deadlines, as well as prepare and maintain course materials within the Salem College CMS and communicate with enrolled students through a Salem email account. Additionally, they will participate in periodic meetings with one or more members of the Mathematics program faculty.

While performing the responsibilities of the course instructor, the employee is required to sit for varying lengths of time; bend, reach, lift, push, and pull up to 25 pounds; occasionally stand and walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel and manipulate keys on a keyboard; perform extended periods of work at a computer workstation and view a computer monitor; perceive sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and receive detailed information through oral communication; express and exchange ideas by means of spoken word; and work in a classroom setting.
