Job summary

Math Corps, powered by AmeriCorps and operated by Ampact, seeks a Math Tutor to work with local students in Des Moines schools, helping them build essential math skills and confidence.

You’ll tutor small groups for 20–30 minutes, follow a fixed schedule, track progress with an onsite coach, and participate in coaching to grow your abilities. Applicants must be 18+, have a HS diploma, be fluent in English, and pass a background check.

Qualifications

• Dependable with good attendance.
• Able to follow instructions and use feedback.
• Proficient with basic computer skills (email and online navigation).
• Fluent in English for speaking, reading, and writing.
• 18 years or older with HS diploma or equivalent.
• Citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States.
• Able to successfully complete a background check.

Responsibilities

• Be a caring adult focused on helping students thrive.
• Lead tutoring sessions and follow a schedule to ensure student support.
• Track student progress and meet regularly with the school's onsite coach.
• Conduct skill assessments and enter student scores into data software.
• Commit to your own growth through coaching and training.
• Share your experience with the community.
