Position Details
Temporary, Office/Clerical, FLSA Non‑Exempt, FTE: .49, Position Summary: Act as one‑on‑one or small group tutor for student‑athletes enrolled in MATH, STAT, PHYS, CSCI, or other math related courses.
Responsibilities
- Tutor student(s) and aid in their understanding of the material covered in their courses. (60%)
- Maintain a record of what occurred in each tutoring session, including topics covered, student progress, time spent, and student’s level of preparedness for tutoring. (15%)
- Review course topics ahead of sessions to be prepared to utilize time scheduled with student(s). (10%)
- Ensure compliance with NCAA, SEC, and institutional rules and regulations pertaining to the area of academic assistance. (10%)
- Communicate changes in schedule or needs of individual students with Math Lab Coordinator and academic counselors. (5%)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Math, Education or a related field.
- At least 1 year of teaching or tutoring experience.
- Familiarity with current technologies used to teach math, including computer programs and graphing calculators.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals, customers and the general public.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with random issues.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Physical Demands
The physical demands include regularly standing, walking, and occasionally lifting approximately 20 lbs.
