Job summary

AoPS Academy in Pleasanton, CA is seeking a Math Teaching Assistant to support instructors and help students navigate advanced concepts. The role offers afterschool and weekend hours, with a minimum weekly commitment per class and a focus on one-on-one student support.

The ideal candidate is at least 16, has strong math skills, and a positive, communicative demeanor. Prior teaching experience is not required, but a familiarity with AoPS is a plus.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years old or older.
• Strong math skills to help students with advanced concepts.
• Experience with younger students is strongly preferred.

• Detail-oriented and organized.
• AoPS curriculum familiarity is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Support instruction by assisting instructors with curriculum and materials.
• Work one-on-one with students during class activities and provide help as needed.
• Help maintain an organized learning environment and assist in managing up to 16 students.
• Assist with grading and provide constructive feedback on student work.
• Build relationships with students and staff to support learning.
• Foster an environment that promotes critical thinking and curiosity.
