Job summary

AoPS Academy in San Mateo, CA is seeking a Math Teaching Assistant to support instructors with AoPS curriculum, assist students one-on-one, and help manage classrooms of up to 16 students. This in-person, after-school role offers opportunities to grade assignments and provide constructive feedback in a collaborative learning environment.

Ideal candidates are 16+, have strong math skills, excellent communication, and enjoy working with younger students.

• Strong math skills with the ability to help students navigate advanced concepts.
• Experience with/interest in working with younger students strongly preferred.
• Exceptional written and spoken communication.
• Positive and encouraging attitude that helps students feel comfortable asking questions.

• Familiarity with the AoPS curriculum is not required, but a plus.

The Teaching Assistant will:

• Support Instruction: Assist instructors with company-created curriculum and materials, helping advanced students grasp complex concepts.

Not Required:

• Prior teaching experience or education coursework is not required for this position.

Schedule (Academic Year)

• AoPS Academy is an afterschool program with classes in the evenings and on weekends. Candidates must be available to teach during weekday after-school hours (as early as 4pm) and/or on weekends.
• This position requires a minimum initial commitment of about 3 hours per week for each assigned class.
• Each course meets once per week for 1 hour 45 minutes.

Schedule

• Honors Math 1- Tuesdays from 4-5:45pm

Campus Location

• This is an in-person position at our San Mateo, California location
• Candidates must be located in San Mateoor the greater area and must be able to commute to our campus
