Job summary

University of Utah Health Hospital in Salt Lake City seeks a Night shift Registered Nurse in the Maternal-Newborn unit to provide direct patient care for mothers and newborns. You will follow established care plans, monitor patients, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team.

The role includes postpartum and neonatal care, administration of medications, patient education, and adherence to safety and infection control standards in a 24/7 health system.

Qualifications

• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Utah.
• Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine maternal and newborn assessments (vital signs, postpartum recovery, newborn adaptation) and documents findings; escalates abnormal results per protocol.
• Provides direct patient care for postpartum, newborn, antepartum, and gynecologic patients following care plans and provider orders.
• Assists with newborn care, including feeding support, routine monitoring, and basic interventions under supervision.
• Administers medications and treatments as prescribed; follows safety and documentation standards.
• Recognizes signs of maternal or newborn deterioration and reports findings promptly.
• Provides basic patient and family education related to postpartum recovery, newborn care, and discharge instructions.
