Job summary

University of Utah Health is seeking a Maternal-Newborn Nurse to provide comprehensive postpartum and newborn care at the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City. Qualifications

• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Utah, or obtain within 90 days of hire under the interstate compact.
• Must maintain Interstate Compact license if residency remains outside Utah.
• Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system; to be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine maternal and newborn assessments (vital signs, postpartum recovery, newborn adaptation) and documents findings; escalates abnormal results.
• Provides direct patient care for postpartum, newborn, antepartum, and gynecologic patients per care plans and orders.
• Assists with newborn care, including feeding support and monitoring under supervision.
• Administers medications and treatments as prescribed; follows safety and documentation standards.
• Recognizes signs of maternal or newborn deterioration and reports findings promptly.
• Provides basic patient and family education related to postpartum recovery and newborn care.
