Job summary

University of Utah Health in Salt Lake City is seeking a registered nurse to join the Maternal-Newborn team on the night shift, providing direct care for postpartum, newborn, antepartum, and gynecologic patients according to established care plans and provider orders.

You will assess patients, administer medications, educate families, ensure infection control, participate in rounds, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Utah, or obtain within 90 days of hire under the Interstate Compact.
• Interstate Compact license must be maintained if residency remains outside Utah.
• RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential must be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine maternal and newborn assessments and documents findings; escalates abnormal results per protocol.
• Provides direct patient care for postpartum, newborn, antepartum, and gynecologic patients per care plans.
• Assists with newborn care including feeding support and routine monitoring.
• Administers medications and treatments as prescribed; follows safety and documentation standards.
• Recognizes signs of deterioration and reports findings promptly.
• Provides education to patients and families about postpartum recovery and newborn care.
• Maintains safe environment following infection prevention and safety protocols.
• Coordinates care with providers and team members; participates in rounds and discussions.
• Completes orientation and competency validation for maternal-newborn workflows.
