Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania seeks an Assistant District Materials Manager with the Department of Transportation to lead materials testing, inspections, and documentation for transportation projects. Key duties include evaluating mix designs, monitoring materials, reviewing bridge material sources, and overseeing winter operations.

Qualifications

• One year of experience as a Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisor or equivalent.
• Four years of experience in construction inspection, including one year in a supervisory capacity.
• Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training providing the required knowledges, skills and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design Reviews: Evaluate asphalt, concrete, and latex modified concrete mix designs and review quality control plans.
• Material Monitoring: Check materials shipped to projects and analyze test results to ensure they meet specifications.
• Bridge Material Oversight: Review and approve material sources for bridge construction and preservation projects.
• Winter Operations: Oversee deliveries of anti-skid, deicing materials, and cold patch to county maintenance stockpiles.
• Technical Activities: Assess plants and quarries, train inspection personnel, and support quality assurance reviews.
• Administrative Duties: Supervise staff, approve leave and payroll, evaluate performance, and provide training guidance.
