This role allows you to guide important materials testing and quality processes that support safe construction across the region. This position supports construction and maintenance projects by overseeing materials testing, inspections, and documentation. You will help ensure that all materials used on transportation projects meet engineering standards and follow required specifications. As an Assistant District Materials Manager, you will perform the following duties:

• Material Compliance: Review materials used on projects to ensure they meet standards and specifications
• Design Approval: Evaluate and approve mix designs and coordinate decisions with district leadership
• Quality Oversight: Monitor quality control plans and test results for asphalt, concrete, and aggregate materials
• Project Support: Attend preplacement meetings and provide technical guidance during construction activities
• Safety Leadership: Promote safe work practices and respond to identified hazards or incidents
• Staff Management: Supervise inspectors, approve administrative requests, and support employee training needs

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• You will work closely with vendors and work hours may change based on vendor availability.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, ad-hoc after successful completion of the probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Montoursville. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $73,859 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Five years of civil engineering experience and an Engineer-In-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or
• One year of civil engineering experience in highway design, construction or maintenance related projects and a bachelor's degree with major course work in civil engineering.

Special Requirement

• This position requirespossession of a valid driver’s license.
