Job summary

Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) is seeking an Engineering Technician 1-4 to join the Materials Testing Section in Baton Rouge. The role focuses on testing a variety of materials and ensuring data integrity for quality assurance in statewide construction projects.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, plus six months of related experience in engineering support or equipment operation.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in test methods for materials testing.
• Ability to review sample ID information and determine testing requirements.
• Experience with recording and tracking test data.

Responsibilities

• Performs testing on Asphalt, Concrete, Soils, Aggregates, Steel, Adhesives, Paint, Thermoplastic, and Cementitious Materials in accordance with DOTD procedures.
• Performs calculations, records, checks, organizes, and enters test data into the required software; maintains sample log daily and verifies testing.
• Maintains testing equipment including basic calibrations, verifications, adjustments, and repairs.
• Tests proficiency samples from AASHTO CCRL and CT for Cement and Pozzolan on a semi-annual basis.
• Requests or obtains additional materials, supplies and/or equipment as needed to ensure efficient operation.
