Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals is seeking a Materials Team Lead for the Ruby Memorial Hospital campus. This full-time evening shift role will oversee daily tasks, coordinate staff, and ensure inventory accuracy and safety compliance within Materials Management.

Responsibilities include reviewing call-offs, reorganizing tasks, training new employees, and acting as department liaison in leadership's absence.

Qualifications

• Quality: Ensures that all assignment areas are covered and that tasks align with department standards.
• Accuracy: Ensures proper inventorying and stocking/restocking procedures and accurate shift transactions in Workday.
• Safety: Follows WVUH safety policies and ensures team adherence to safety rules.
• Customer Service: Maintains hospital standards of behavior and responds to inquiries and complaints promptly.
• Staffing: Reviews call-off logs and coordinates with management to arrange coverage; distributes workload fairly.
• Communication: Collaborates with management and staff; serves as department contact in absence of leadership.
• Cost Control: Uses oldest inventory first to minimize waste and monitor loss/theft.
• Training: Assists management in planning and delivering training for new and current staff.

Follows-up with management on customer service concerns and suggestions for improvement. 5. **Staffing:** Reviews daily call-off log and coordinates with management regarding arrangements already made and/or begins making arrangements. Completes additional tasks as needed to ensure department responsibilities are met. May rearrange tasks to fairly distribute workload. Demonstrates the ability to effectively direct and coordinate the assignments of team members as required. 6. **Communication:** Works closely with management and staff in assigned areas. Also communicates effectively (respectful, honest, caring) with nursing and other hospital personnel that contact Materials Management. Serves as departmental contact person/representative in the absence of management. Ensures that the Materials Management department phone lines are answered at all times in accordance with Hospital Standards of Behavior.7. **Cost Control:** Ensures that oldest products are utilized first to prevent waste. Is aware of customers and surroundings to prevent loss/theft. 8. **Training:** Works with manager to plan and support training of new employees and cross training of current employees.
