Job summary

Venteon is seeking a 3rd shift Materials Supervisor in the Adrian, MI area. The role requires prior supervisory experience in a plant manufacturing setting and solid knowledge of Lean processes, IATF 16949, and ISO14001.

You will manage materials planning, inventory, and warehouse operations during the 9:30 PM–6:30 AM shift, with overtime possible. Responsibilities include leading continuous improvement projects, budgeting, tooling and PPE provisioning, and cross-functional coordination with

Qualifications

  • Supervisory experience in a plant manufacturing setting.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean manufacturing processes.
  • Understanding of IATF 16949 and ISO14001 requirements.
  • Experience with bar code labeling and scanning technology.
  • Knowledge of union contract language.
  • Materials, supply chain, or inventory management experience.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to negotiate with suppliers and customers.
  • Ability to plan and organize daily activities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities.
  • High school graduate; post-high school education preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Empower and motivate teams to drive continuous improvement.
  • Maximize value-added activities and support the business plan.
  • Ensure tools and PPE are available and requisitioned as needed.
  • Report progress to Material Operations Manager or designate.
  • Conduct development reviews for direct reports with clear objectives.
  • Prepare and monitor departmental budgets and capital requirements.
  • Distribute work fairly, manage overtime, and schedule vacations.
  • Develop and train staff within the department.
  • Provide engineering input on packaging and shipping considerations.
  • Manage materials planning to support daily operations.
  • Oversee inventory accuracy and establish controls.
  • Lead warehouse operations and cycle counts.
  • Develop standard processes to improve production efficiency.
  • Coordinate with Safety Committee and enforce safety rules.
  • Maintain positive employee relations and timely issue resolution.

3RD SHIFT MATERIALS SUPERVISOR NEEDED - ADRIAN, MICHIGAN AREA

A Leading Automotive Supplier near Adrian, Michigan needs a 3rd Shift Materials Supervisor. Previous Materials Expertise and Supervision Experience at an Automotive Supplier is Required. The Working Hours for this Position are 9:30 P.M. to 6:30 A.M. and some Overtime may be required. This is a Full Time, Permanent, Direct Hire Position offering Competitive Compensation, Bonus Potential, Good Benefits, Paid Holidays and Paid Vacation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for stimulating the problem-solving processes by empowering and motivating others to make improvements - highlighting opportunities/possible solutions (dropping seeds)
  • Responsible for ensuring all resources are effectively utilized to maximize all value-added activities that support the overall Business Plan with high emphasis on customer satisfaction
  • Ensures all employees have been given the necessary tools to perform duties, i.e., personal protective equipment, small tools etc. and completes requisition forms as required for such tools.
  • Responsible to report to Material Operations Manager or designate on all teams’ continuous improvement projects
  • Responsible to conduct development reviews for all direct reports clearly stating each person’s major duties and responsibilities, main objectives, direct customers (interior and exterior), including areas requiring improvement/development
  • Responsible to prepare and monitor departmental budgets and capital requirements
  • Distributes all work in a fair and equitable manner. Evenly allocates overtime and manages all vacation requests taking into consideration customer requirements.
  • Develop and provide training to new/existing employees within department.
  • Provides Engineering department with expertise when designing new packaging, i.e., how many parts can fit in container, cost of shipping etc.
  • Manage materials planning function to support day-to-day operations, ensuring timely material flow within the facility.
  • Oversee inventory management and control, accuracy and established inventory guidelines and procedures.
  • Lead and improve Material/Inventory Management, including warehouse management. Manage daily warehousing operations including cycle counts and storage of materials.
  • Develop and implement standard process and strategies that enable production efficiency improvements
  • Cooperates with the Safety Committee and adheres to all plant safety rules and regulations.
  • Maintains positive employee relations and addresses issues in timely manner. Seeks advice/counsel from appropriate sources as required.
  • Contributes to a safe, clean, & comfortable work environment that complements the Occupational Health & Safety Act by ensuring the principles of the 5-S discipline are supported and adhered to.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Previous Supervisory Experience in a Plant Manufacturing Setting
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of Lean Manufacturing Processes
  • Sound understanding of IATF 16949 and ISO14001requirements
  • Working knowledge of Union Contract Language.
  • Sound understanding of bar code label printing and scanning technology
  • Materials, Supply Chain, or Inventory Management Experience is Needed.
  • Strong Leadership Skills to lead and direct employees
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to negotiate and persuade Suppliers / Customers.
  • Ability to plan and organize daily activities
  • Effectively manages multiple tasks and changing priorities
  • Strong problem solving and decision making skills
  • High School Graduate, post high school education preferred.
