Job summary

ABB is hiring a Quality Specialist (onsite) in Pinetops, NC. You will perform chemical verifications on epoxy and urethane systems, conduct incoming material testing, and apply ISO 9001 compliant procedures while maintaining thorough documentation.

You will lead CAPA initiatives, perform root cause analysis, and contribute to continual improvement. Internal audits and QMS support are routine parts of the role with close collaboration to the Quality Manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Chemical Laboratory Analyst or related field (preferred) plus minimum 2 years of experience.
• 1 year (preferred) in a laboratory setting with knowledge of test methodologies related to viscosity, density, gel time, etc.
• Experience with RCA and CAPA.

Responsibilities

• Perform chemical verification of in-process epoxy and urethane systems to ensure formulation accuracy, cure characteristics, and compliance with documented specifications; maintain records per ISO 9001 requirements.
• Conduct incoming material inspections and confirmatory testing against Certificates of Analysis; apply acceptance criteria and control nonconforming product per QMS procedures.
• Lead preventive and corrective actions (CAPA) based on chemical analysis results; utilize root cause analysis tools and update control plans to prevent recurrence, ensuring continual improvement per ISO 9001:2015.
• Evaluate laboratory capability and recommend equipment upgrades or replacements; develop justification reports and support implementation of validated methods to enhance measurement accuracy and efficiency.
• Plan and execute internal audits of processes, documentation, and records; issue findings, verify corrective action effectiveness, and contribute to maintaining ISO 9001 compliance; support QMS controls by maintaining documented procedures, training personnel, and preparing for customer and regulatory audits.
