Job summary

Valmont within Columbus, Nebraska seeks a Materials Planner to manage material demand in the ERP system and align with central purchasing and site operations. This role emphasizes accuracy, timely data updates, and strong collaboration across Purchasing and Production teams.

The incumbent will handle requisitions, on-hand allocation, inter-facility orders, and participate in lean inventory efforts while maintaining excellent relationships with internal customers and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience with a focus on understanding MRP systems.
• 2+ years in a production/manufacturing environment or a material role.
• Certifications such as CPSM or CPI M (ISM/APICS) or equivalent are preferred.
• Ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Review purchase requisitions for item accuracy, quantity and dates.
• Assign on-hand materials to satisfy demand from requisitions.
• Purchase items from other Valmont facilities when needed.
• Process requisitions for Senior Category Buyer if new materials are required.
• Monitor material delivery estimates and inform stakeholders.
• Maintain professional relationships with internal customers and central purchasing.
• Support lean initiatives and continuous improvements in inventory control.
• Act as backup for other Material Planners and report to site purchasing leader.
