Job summary

Fortive's Fluke Health Solutions is seeking a Materials Manager in Glenwood, IL to lead planning, procurement, storage and distribution, ensuring optimal inventory, cost control, and on-time delivery for manufacturing needs.

You will oversee procurement of raw materials, collaborate with operations, engineering and purchasing, and develop material strategies that support production schedules while maintaining safety and quality standards. Strong ERP/MRP and Lean principles required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of materials management or supply chain experience in manufacturing.
• Strong inventory control, procurement, logistics and planning knowledge.
• Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, Agresso, MS Dynamics).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Project, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Lean Manufacturing expertise with measurable results.
• Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
• APICS or similar certification preferred.
• Travel up to 15%.

Responsibilities

• Lead material management with safety and on-time delivery while optimizing cost and inventory.
• Plan and schedule receipts, shipments, and logistic costs for timely material flow.
• Develop material strategies to support manufacturing operations.
• Oversee procurement of raw materials, components, and supplies.
• Collaborate with operations, engineering, and purchasing on forecasting and material availability.
• Maintain inventory levels to meet production while minimizing excess.
• Coordinate with suppliers for timely delivery and issue resolution.
• Manage warehouse operations (receiving, storage, distribution).
• Develop and mentor the materials team, enforcing safety and policies.
• Monitor costs and identify savings and efficiency gains.
• Ensure quality standards and regulatory compliance.
• Use ERP/MRP data to drive decisions.
• Drive Daily Management and Fortive Business System improvements.
• Apply Gemba to support continuous improvement.
• Review alignment with improvement projects and KPIs.
• Collaborate with HR on organizational and talent development, risk, succession.
• Motivate and inspire team through effective communication upstream and downstream.
• Manage ~ $3M inventory, ~ $4M logistics spend, 1 Buyer/Planners and 2 hourly staff.
