Job description

Materials Manager | Utilimaster | Landisville, PA

Regular Employee | Salary Exempt

What you'll do:

As the Materials Manager for Utilimaster (A Shyft Brand) based at our facility in Landisville, PA, you will provide input for day-to-day planning operations and lead "lean business processes" focused on achieving results and meeting goals.

Your main responsibilities include overseeing material planning improvements, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, and fostering an environment where goals are met, results are achieved, and team motivation is high.

  1. Manage production and inventory control, shipping and receiving, and materials storage.
  2. Direct production planning and scheduling based on sales forecasts.
  3. Collaborate cross-functionally with other managers to determine supply needs.
  4. Maintain inventory levels to meet customer delivery timelines.
  5. Ensure accuracy of the perpetual inventory system.
  6. Coordinate with purchasing on delivery schedules of materials, supplies, and equipment.
  7. Oversee shipping and receiving of purchased parts and finished goods.
  8. Identify opportunities to reduce transportation costs.
  9. Manage storage of parts and finished goods.
  10. Handle write-offs for damaged or obsolete inventory to maintain accuracy.
  11. Keep detailed procurement records.
  12. Establish procedures for year-end physical inventory.
  13. Conduct performance evaluations and handle discipline and termination as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, logistics, engineering, or supply chain management (preferred).
  • 5+ years in materials control, preferably in manufacturing.
  • 3+ years as a materials manager or similar role.
  • Experience with shipping and receiving.
  • Knowledge of supply chain and inventory management systems.
Preferred Skills:
  • Understanding of forecasting and budgeting.
  • Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, leadership, organizational, and planning skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
