Job Summary

As the Materials Manager, you will play a crucial role in our supply chain, overseeing the procurement, inventory management, and distribution of materials essential for civil engineering projects. This position involves regular travel to ensure effective relationships with suppliers and to monitor project needs on-site. Key Responsibilities

- Strategic Management: Develop and implement effective materials management strategies tailored to civil engineering projects, focusing on procurement and inventory control.

- Collaboration: Work closely with project managers and engineering teams to forecast material requirements and ensure timely delivery aligned with project schedules.

- Supplier Engagement: Identify, negotiate, and maintain relationships with suppliers, with frequent travel to enhance collaboration and ensure quality and reliability of materials.

- Inventory Optimization: Monitor and analyze inventory levels, implementing systems to maximize efficiency while preventing stockouts and overstock situations.

- Performance Monitoring: Evaluate supplier performance and initiate corrective actions as needed to address issues related to delivery, quality, and compliance.

- Cost Savings Initiatives: Lead initiatives aimed at reducing material costs through effective sourcing strategies and continuous process improvements.

- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and regulatory standards related to materials management in civil engineering.

- Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and present performance reports on materials usage, cost savings, and supplier metrics to senior management.

Required Skills and Qualifications

- Educational Background: Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Civil Engineering, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.

- Experience: Proven experience in materials management or supply chain roles, preferably within the civil engineering or construction industry.

- Travel Requirement: Willingness to travel frequently to supplier locations and project sites.

- Technical Skills: Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis.

- Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, with a focus on data analysis and inventory trends specific to civil engineering materials.

- Communication: Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills for effective collaboration with project teams and suppliers.
