Job summary

Carrier is seeking a Materials and Logistics Manager in Charlotte to lead a team responsible for storage, distribution, and inventory control to meet production schedules and customer demands. The role requires a strong background in supply chain management, ERP/WMS proficiency, and a data-driven approach to optimize material flow and reduce waste.

Collaboration with procurement, production, and 3PL partners is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics or Business Administration.
  • 5+ years of experience in materials management, logistics, or supply chain operations.
  • 3+ years of experience with inventory control, demand planning, and warehouse operations.
  • 3+ years of experience with ERP systems and warehouse management systems (WMS).
  • 3+ years of experience leading teams, drive process improvements, and manage supplier relationships.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • APICS, CPIM, or CSCP certification.
  • Experience managing 3PL relationships and transportation logistics.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance in materials handling and transportation.
  • Experience in fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Energetic, hands-on; able to drive change and continuous improvement.
  • Experience applying Six Sigma/Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Strong computer and system skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.
  • SAP experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team for material handling, warehouse operations, and logistics.
  • Set clear goals and expectations, providing regular feedback and performance evaluations.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize material flow and logistics processes, reducing waste and improving efficiency.
  • Oversee material planning, procurement, receiving, warehousing, and distribution to ensure timely and accurate supply of materials.
  • Monitor inventory levels, conduct audits, and implement inventory control measures to prevent shortages or excess stock.
  • Coordinate with production, procurement, and suppliers to mitigate risks related to material shortages or supply chain disruptions.
  • Manage relationships with third-party logistics (3PL) providers, carriers, and suppliers to ensure cost-effective and reliable transportation of materials.
  • Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and use data-driven insights to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and manage the department budget, optimizing costs while maintaining service levels.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards related to materials handling and logistics.
  • Utilize ERP and warehouse management systems (WMS) to track inventory, streamline operations, and enhance decision-making.
