Job summary

The Greenbrier Companies is seeking a Material Manager in Iowa to procure and control inventory, ensuring proper storage/handling procedures and minimizing variances. This role collaborates with Production, Quality Assurance, Customer Service, and external vendors to maintain efficient material flow and cost control.

The position requires experience in railcar repair/parts, familiarity with inventory systems, and strong organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications describe practical experience with railcar repair and parts
• Familiarity with supply chain and inventory management systems
• Ability to drive results through information and team performance
• Strong written and verbal communication across all levels
• Excellent organization and attention to detail
• Proficient with MS Office applications (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel)

Responsibilities

• Define efficient procedures for sourcing, procuring, and controlling inventory material for shop operations
• Direct purchasing by developing corporate procedures and training personnel
• Identify and minimize idle/obsolete inventory and supervise disposition
• Maintain procurement and receiving operations with verification of shipments, costs, and quality
• Maintain the part numbering system and update the outline as needed
• Plan and execute annual physical inventory with Plant Manager and Controller
