Job summary

Thomas Built Buses, Inc. in Detroit, MI, is seeking a Materials Engineering Technician to join the Materials and Process Technology team. You will support materials characterization and failure analysis on heavy-duty powertrain components, and assist with lab equipment maintenance and process improvements.

Candidates typically have 3 years of relevant experience or an AA degree with additional experience. The role requires ability to lift up to 50 lbs and comfort with industrial equipment;

Qualifications

• 3 years of relevant experience or AA degree + 1 year of relevant experience.
• Familiarity with heavy-duty powertrain components.
• Familiarity with heavy-duty sectioning equipment and industrial environments.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex work plans.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Provide support for DTNA Materials Engineers conducting materials characterization and/or failure analysis investigations via testing, sectioning, and sample preparation of heavy-duty powertrain components.
• Support laboratory equipment preventative maintenance programs.
• Support laboratory processes such as inventory management, consumable purchases, quality initiatives, etc.
