Job summary

Daimler Truck North America is seeking a Materials Engineering Technician in Detroit, MI to support materials characterization, failure analysis, and lab processes for heavy-duty powertrain components. Onsite role with a focus on detailed testing, sample prep, and equipment upkeep.

Ideal candidates have 3 years of relevant experience or an AA plus 1 year, with familiarity of heavy-duty powertrains. Relocation not provided; on-site work environment and safety compliance are essential.

  • 3 years of relevant experience or AA degree + 1 year of relevant experience
  • Familiarity with heavy-duty powertrain components
  • Familiarity with heavy-duty sectioning equipment such as industrial band saws, enclosed chop saws, and other industrial equipment and environments
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to follow complex work plans
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

Responsibilities

  • Provide support for DTNA Materials Engineers conducting materials characterization and/or failure analysis investigations via testing, sectioning, and sample preparation of heavy-duty powertrain components
  • Support laboratory equipment preventative maintenance programs
  • Support laboratory processes such as inventory management, consumable purchases, quality initiatives, etc.

The Material and Process Technology (MPT) department at DTNA is looking for Materials Engineering Technician to join our team.

Posting Information

Position offers a starting salary range of $65,000 - $83,000 USD. Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience.

What You Drive at DTNA

Exceptional Candidates Might Have
  • College level classes in Material Science and/or Metallurgy
  • Familiarity with materials sample preparation techniques including sample preparation and metallography
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems
  • Familiarity with lean management principles
