Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Materials Engineer to join our North Canton, OH team, focusing on metallurgical materials and heat-treatment processes for high-quality ferrous components. This role blends hands-on process development with ongoing quality improvements in a global industrial setting.

You will collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams, support capital projects, and drive throughput, cost, and reliability improvements while adhering to AS9100/ISO 9001 standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Metallurgical Eng with 4+ years experience, or Master's with 1+ year.
• Heat treat process development and deployment experience (carburizing, hardening, tempering, austempering).
• Strong background in ferrous metallurgy and metallurgical inspection methods.
• Experience manufacturing processes for high-quality ferrous components.
• Identify weaknesses and implement improvements for quality and throughput.
• Capital project management: business case, equipment justification, cost tracking.
• Ability to manage short- and long-term technical projects with minimal supervision.
• Experience driving continuous improvement in manufacturing environments.
• Knowledge of AS9100, NADCAP, AIAG CQI-9, ISO 9001 preferred.
• Experience selecting/procurement/ layout of heat treatment equipment beneficial.
• Experience with surface coatings and plating beneficial.
• Understanding of statistics and DOE.
• Ability to collect and interpret metallographic/process data.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.

Job Details

• Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical, Chemical, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or


• Master's degree in Engineering, Materials Engineering, MBA, or a related field with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.


• Experience with heat treat process development and deployment, including carburizing, hardening, tempering, austempering, and related thermal processes.


• Strong background in ferrous metallurgy and metallurgical inspection methods.


• Experience supporting or developing manufacturing processes for high-quality ferrous components.


• Experience identifying process weaknesses and implementing improvements to improve quality, throughput, cost, and process stability.


• Capital project management experience, including business case development, equipment justification, cost tracking, and project execution.


• Ability to manage both short-term and long-term technical projects with minimal supervision.


• Experience developing and implementing continuous improvement solutions within manufacturing environments.


• Knowledge of quality systems such as AS9100, NADCAP, AIAG CQI-9, and/or ISO 9001 is preferred.


• Experience with the selection, specification, procurement, or layout development of heat treatment equipment is beneficial.


• Experience with surface coatings and plating is beneficial.


• Understanding of statistics and design and analysis of experiments (DOE).


• Ability to collect, interpret, and utilize metallographic and process data.


• Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
