Job summary

PDS Tech Commercial seeks an experienced Materials and Processes Engineer to lead complex aerospace projects in Savannah, GA. You will apply advanced M&P knowledge, guide cross-functional teams, and develop innovative standards and guidelines to improve aircraft products, cost, and schedules.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in engineering and 5–13+ years in a technical discipline (or 10–15+ across multiple areas), with strong independent decision-making ability and onsite availability.

Responsibilities

  • Manage complete engineering projects of significant complexity within program scope.
  • Make authoritative technical decisions influencing broad engineering activities.

  • Lead development of innovative principles, standards, and guidelines.
  • Identify improved methods to optimize technical performance, cost, schedule, and quality.
  • Plan and lead investigations into complex technical areas with no established precedents.
  • Generate and communicate technical requirements to suppliers and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Review proposed designs and workflows using SmarTeam and CATIA.
  • Develop EAR-approved test plans and results reports.
  • Provide manufacturing liaison support, including MRB integration.
  • Lead and implement continuous improvement initiatives related to Materials and Processes.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers to resolve critical challenges.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Lead breakthrough solutions in Aerospace as a Materials and Processes Engineer

Location : Savannah, GA | Payrate: $56.09 - 80.52/hour | Schedule: 1st shift, 8am to 5pm

PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leader in the aerospace industry to find an experienced Materials and Processes Engineer ready to take on complex engineering challenges and drive innovation across advanced aircraft programs.

This is an opportunity for a highly experienced engineer to take ownership of major, complex engineering projects where conventional solutions may not exist. You’ll apply deep technical expertise, independent judgment, and innovative thinking to solve critical problems and develop new approaches that improve aircraft products, processes, cost, and schedule.

Your expertise will help shape engineering standards, guide multidisciplinary teams, and advance technologies that support the future of aerospace.

What you’ll do
  • Take responsibility for complete engineering projects of significant complexity within established program scope.

  • Make authoritative technical decisions and recommendations that influence broad engineering activities.

  • Apply advanced engineering principles, theories, and concepts using extensive technical expertise.

  • Lead the development of innovative engineering principles, ideas, standards, and guidelines.

  • Independently identify improved methods and processes to optimize technical performance, cost, schedule, and quality.

  • Plan and lead investigations into complex technical areas where established engineering precedents may not exist.

  • Generate and communicate technical requirements to external suppliers and multidisciplinary engineering teams, including Powerplant, Environmental Control, Structures, Electrical, and Mechanical.

  • Use SmarTeam and CATIA to review proposed designs and engineering workflows.

  • Develop and support EAR-approved test plans and results reports.

  • Provide manufacturing liaison support, including Material Review Board (MRB) integration.

  • Lead and implement continuous improvement initiatives related to Materials and Processes.

  • Work collaboratively with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and other stakeholders to resolve critical technical challenges.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What you bring
Required qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related applicable technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 5 - 13+ years of experience in a specific technical discipline or 10-15+ years of broad engineering experience across multiple technical disciplines.

  • Extensive experience solving complex engineering problems requiring innovative and advanced technical solutions.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and make authoritative technical decisions.

  • Strong understanding of Materials and Processes Engineering and continuous improvement principles.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to balance technical requirements with product performance, cost, schedule, and quality.

  • Ability to work full-time onsite.

Preferred qualifications
  • Advanced degree in engineering or a related technical discipline.

  • Aerospace or aircraft manufacturing experience.

  • Materials and Processes Engineering experience developing and communicating technical requirements to external suppliers and multidisciplinary engineering teams.

  • Experience with SmarTeam and CATIA.

  • Experience producing EAR-approved test plans and results reports.

  • Demonstrated success with manufacturing liaison and MRB integration.

  • Experience implementing continuous improvement projects within an M&P environment.

  • Experience developing engineering standards and guides for diverse technical activities.

Pay Details: $80.52 per hour
