  • Select the appropriate materials considering cost, availability, producibility, and other factors that may impact the manufacturability of the component or system.
  • Apply principles of chemistry, physics and material behavior to develop metallic materials and coating process specifications, and fabrication and joining processes that will meet the mechanical load and life cycle requirements of the system.
  • Apply material property design allowable and specification requirements to the stress analysis of system components.
  • Work with the metallurgical laboratory technicians to perform failure analyses of parts returned from testing or the field using metallurgical techniques such as macroscopic examination, documentation, metallographic techniques, scanning electron microscopy and mechanical testing determine the root cause of failure.
  • Support our production facilities with root cause investigations, vendor support, and first article inspection.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Material Science, Metallurgical Engineering, or similar degree with 2 years Metallurgical / Materials Testing Experience. We may consider additional experience in lieu of degree.

  • Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with both ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
  • Good oral and written English communication skills as you will be writing and presenting reports internally and to the customer.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with customers to solve technical problems.
  • May consider candidates with fewer years for a more junior role or more experience for a more senior role.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
