Job description

Hanford Tank Waste Operations & Closure (H2C) delivers exceptional performance in safely removing, treating, and disposing of tank waste. H2C leads the nation's largest and most complex radioactive waste cleanup, including closure of the legacy waste tanks at Hanford containing 56 million gallons of radioactive and chemical waste.

H2C is seeking a Material Services Supervisor that will provide leadership, oversight, and strategic direction for the materials support of safe, reliable, and compliant operations across the Hanford Tank Farms and associated facilities. This position leads personnel responsible for material coordination, inventory management, procurement support, excess disposition, transition, transformation, and future materials related tasking in support of mission-critical maintenance and operational activities. The Material Services Supervisor will foster a strong safety culture, maintain operational discipline, and ensure effective execution of supply chain and material management activities that directly support continuity of operations and the Hanford Site cleanup mission.

The specific duties of the Material Services Supervisor will include but are not limited to the following:

• *Conduct the Material Services organization within H2C's Values & Behaviors.


• *Lead and supervise Material Services personnel supporting maintenance, operations, and project activities.


• *Establish and maintain a strong safety culture aligned with Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS) principles and company values.


• *Prioritize, assign, and oversee work activities to support operational schedules and customer requirements.


• *Ensure all work activities strictly comply with applicable H2C and Site-wide policies and procedures.


• *Promote professionalism, accountability, teamwork, and effective communication across assigned personnel.


• *Review and assign work to Material Coordinators assuring all Material Orders/Requests are completed correctly and expeditiously.


• *Review and assign work to Storekeepers and HAMTC Drivers.


• *Inform customers of the status of all Material Orders/Requests.


• *Follow through on Material Orders/Requests by working with the Procurement department in the issuance of Purchase Orders.


• *Support development of procedures within Material Assets/Material Services responsibilities to ensure timely and correct delivery of materials.


• *Prepare and issue material status and control reports as required.


• *Assist in developing and conducting Material Services related training programs for Exempt, Bargaining Unit, and customers.


• *Maintain convenience storage material tracking and control.


• *Maintain staging/storage and database processes for inventories and implement reorders as needed.


• *Coordinate return of items to vendors as required.


• *Plan and conduct inventories of material in Material Services control as required.


• *Prepare and disposition Warehouse Storage Requests (WSRs), Declarations of Excess (DOEs), and Spares Storage Requests (SSRs).


• *Oversee Excessing program and interfacing with H2C Property and HMIS to remove excess from the Site.


• *Recommend procedure/policy changes for continuous improvement and develop implementation plans as necessary.


• *Support coordination of all H2C materials staging, storage, and services functions.


• *Prepare and respond to Action Requests and Condition Requests applicable to Material Services.


• *Support compliance with property management, material control, and government accountability requirements.


• *Support audits, assessments, corrective actions, and organizational readiness activities.


• *Execute all other tasks supporting Material Assets, Business Services, and H2C's mission execution.


• *Foster a respectful, accountable, and team-oriented work environment.


• *Demonstrate sound decision-making, organizational, and problem-solving skills.


• *Effectively manage competing priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.

Required Qualifications

Grade 18:

• *BA/BS in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.


• *Six (6) years of related experience in material management, inventory control, or related supply chain operations.


• *Previous leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience in an operational environment.


• *Working knowledge of material control principles, procurement support processes, and inventory management practices.

Grade 19:

• *BA/BS in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.


• *Eight (8) years of related experience in material management, inventory control, or related supply chain operations.


• *Previous leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience in an operational environment.*Working knowledge of material control principles, procurement support processes, and inventory management practices.

Note the essential duties for this grade level are like those of the previous grade level; however, the scope of responsibility is larger, and the expected level of performance is increased.

Desired Qualifications

• *Experience supporting DOE, nuclear, or highly regulated industrial operations.


• *Experience with Asset Suite, IDMS, EAM, or related asset management systems.


• *Knowledge of government property excess material disposition processes.


• *Experience supervising multi-disciplinary teams in high-tempo operational environments.


• *Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to coordinate across multiple organizations and stakeholders.


• *Experience with Bargaining Unit employees and Collective Bargaining Agreements.

In accordance with the company's philosophy on compensation for exempt and salaried non-exempt employees, H2C takes into consideration a variety of factors when determining initial grade and salary to include assigned job scope and responsibility, a candidate's qualifications as compared to internal comparators performing in a similar role, and the external labor market. A salary offer will be made at the appropriate grade level and within the targeted hiring range posted according to these factors. Note a candidate's prior salary history will not be taken into consideration.

Hiring Range Minimum: $109,013

Hiring Range Maximum: $151,038
