Base pay range

$96,938.00/yr - $147,775.00/yr

H2C leads the nation's largest and most complex radioactive waste cleanup, including closure of the legacy waste tanks at Hanford containing 56 million gallons of radioactive and chemical waste.

This Mechanical Engineering role supports the Effluent Treatment Facility (ETF), which treats and disposes of liquid effluents from Hanford programs and projects. The ETF removes chemical and low levels of radioactive contaminants from waste feed streams and is currently installing new unit operations.

The selected candidate will develop and assume technical responsibility for multiple systems within ETF, ensuring maintenance and upgrades comply with applicable codes, standards, requirements, and specifications, and that engineering products follow good practices. Responsibilities include:

  1. Develop and review Engineering Change Notices, specifications, calculations, drawings, and material requests.
  2. Provide facility-specific input to projects and assist in setting up operating and maintenance procedures, including preventative maintenance.
  3. Assist Operations in troubleshooting activities.
  4. Support work package development, routine maintenance, field walkdowns, and field work execution.
  5. Participate in procedure development and revisions.
  6. Prepare technical manuals, reports, documents, and presentations.
  7. Deliver technical presentations to engineering, operations, projects, and customer organizations.
  8. Maintain daily contact, verbally and in writing, with peers and related groups.
  9. Obtain and maintain at least an Engineering Technical Staff qualification card and work toward a system Design Authority qualification.

Required Qualifications

Grade 17: Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline; and five (5) years of related experience.

Grade 18: Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline; and seven (7) years of related experience.

Grade 19: Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline; and nine (9) years of related experience.

The scope and responsibility increase with each grade, reflecting higher levels of performance.

  • Experience with ASME 31.1 and B31.3 piping system designs.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and environmental regulations.
  • Previous Hanford experience.

Hiring Range: $96,938 - $147,775
