Job summary

BlueLinx is seeking a dedicated Material Handler/Forklift Operator to join our distribution center in Portland, OR. The role focuses on safe forklift operation, efficient loading/unloading of building materials, and accurate paperwork for shipping.

Qualifications

• One year or more of forklift/warehouse experience.
• Ability to proficiently and safely operate forklift to transport products and load/unload trucks.
• Ability to understand and follow directions and hierarchies.
• Ability to work independently at times under pressure.
• Capability to perform physical tasks, lifting up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to read and comprehend sales orders, purchase orders, safety material, etc.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift in compliance with training and safety guidelines.
• Load/unload/store building materials from trailers or rail cars with minimal damage.
• Operate a chainsaw safely and efficiently.
• Cut material to customer requested length.
• Store and retrieve material (piece pick and/or bulk).
• Prepare paperwork for distribution and shipping of products.
• Perform daily inspection and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in working/assigned area.
• Assist in periodic inventory counts as requested.

What You’ll Do:

The fixed rate is XXXX per hour, but no less than the local minimum wage. Actual compensation will depend on factors including experience, qualifications, skills, geographic location, and other job-related considerations.
