Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a seasoned Freight Operations Supervisor in Arkansas to oversee day-to-day freight handling, supervise staff, assign tasks, and coordinate loading/unloading to meet customer demands.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with WMS and TMS is a plus.
  • Ability to lift 21–50 pounds and perform physical tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day freight handling operations.
  • Lead and supervise freight handlers and operational staff.
  • Assign tasks, provide guidance, and monitor performance.
  • Coordinate loading, unloading, and handling of freight shipments.
  • Ensure proper documentation, labeling, and packaging of goods.
  • Plan and prioritize operations to meet customer demands and deadlines.
  • Monitor workflow and adjust resources to optimize efficiency.
  • Liaise with customers, carriers, and stakeholders regarding freight movements and issues.
  • Communicate with customers and resolve concerns.
  • Implement quality control measures and conduct inspections and audits.
  • Enforce safety protocols and conduct safety training.
  • Oversee inventory control, stock management, cycle counts, and reconciliation.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and freight documentation, including bills of lading and shipping manifests.
  • Prepare operational reports covering performance metrics, inventory levels, and incidents.
  • Provide training, coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluations for freight handling teams.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in freight operations or logistics roles
  • Demonstrated experience in supervisory or leadership positions
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Knowledge of freight handling processes and regulatory requirements
  • Proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS) and transportation management systems (TMS)
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Fluent in English, oral and written
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with WMS and TMS
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull 21–50 pounds
  • Ability to reach above shoulder, reach outward, squat, or kneel
  • Certification in logistics or supply chain management (e.g., CLTD, CSCP) preferred
  • Experience with international freight operations and customs clearance processes preferred
  • Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and compliance standards preferred
