Job summary

Carpenter Co. invites applications for a 2nd shift Material Handler at our Mt. Airy, NC plant. The role ensures efficient and safe handling of unfinished and finished goods to maintain smooth material flow and on-time shipping.

You will load/unload, verify shipments, stage orders, communicate shortages, keep areas clean, and follow instructions. The schedule is Monday–Friday, 3:30pm–12:00am, with a $0.25 shift differential on 2nd shift.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Prior experience in shipping environment preferred but not required.
• Some manufacturing experience preferred.
• Basic reading, writing and math skills.
• Must be able to use a computer in day‑to‑day operations.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain forklift operator certification.
• Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Must be able to work with little or no supervision.
• Must be able to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays and call‑in with little notice.
• On the job training provided.

Responsibilities

• Load/unload parts, finished goods and/or returned goods.
• Check shipments to verify accuracy then manifest the order.
• Ensure processing of orders meet customer requests, using a load sheet for gathering orders and or staging.
• Communicate with supervision and shortages or damaged products.
• Assist with cleaning the shipping dock area and exterior shipping areas.
• Wrap material/products to Carpenter standard.
• Other duties as deemed necessary by supervision.

Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a 2nd shift Material Handler at our Mt. Airy, NC manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for efficiently and safely handling unfinished and/or finished product or material to ensure an orderly flow of raw materials and finished goods.

The successful candidate will be able to communicate with department supervisors, department operators, and production personnel on a daily basis, and maintain a well‑organized work area that is safely stacked and properly labeled to achieve the necessary results to meet production and shipping schedules.

Carpenter Co. offers $0.25 per hour shift differential for all hours worked on 2nd shift.
