Job summary

Carpenter Co. in Mount Airy, NC, is hiring an Operator B for the 2nd shift to safely operate foam bedding cutting and packaging machinery, maintain clean and safe work areas, and communicate with management and team leads.

The role requires reading and interpreting measurements, recording data in SAP, performing quality checks, and following work instructions. Overtime and flexible hours are available; forklift certification is required.

Qualifications

• Must maintain a neat, orderly, and safe work environment.
• Performs cutting operations according to internal and external customer specifications.
• Records pertinent data into the SAP system.
• Conducts quality checks of all material to meet customer specifications.
• Follows work instructions to maintain requirements.
• Must adjust cutting requirements to maintain efficiency.
• Must make sure all finished product is labeled correctly.
• Must have the ability to read and interpret a tape measure.
• Accurately transports and loads product to designated area and/or trailer as needed.
• Assists with inventory, as required.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for an Operator B on the 2nd shift at our Mount Airy, NC manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for the safe operation of machinery that cuts and packages foam bedding products. The successful candidate will maintain daily communication with department management, team lead and other employees, and produce product with varying cutting instructions according to production requirements in a normal manufacturing environment with exposure to temperature changes.

Skills / Requirements

• High school education or GED required.
• On-the-job training is provided; prior machine experience is a plus.
• Basic computer knowledge and the ability to use computerized equipment in daily operations.
• Ability to work flexible hours and overtime.
• Must have basic reading, writing, and math skills.
• Must be forklift certified.

Compensation & Hours

Shift Hours: Monday - Friday, 3:30pm to 12:00am.

Pay rate: $18.49 to $18.70.

Important Notes

Carpenter Co. offers $.25 per hour shift differential for all hours worked on the 2nd shift.
