Job summary

Star Lumber & Supply Co., Inc. in Wichita, KS is seeking a Material Handler to support loading, staging, and shipping lumber and building materials. You’ll operate forklifts, assist customers, and ensure accurate documents while following safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Warehouse or distribution center experience.

Responsibilities

• Pulling and staging building material products (lumber, cabinets, windows, doors, decking, siding).
• Safely loading and unloading materials on various trucks (semi, box, flat bed).
• Assisting customers with loading materials.
• Completing shipping and inventory documents accurately.
• Operating forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
• Adhering to safety procedures and PPE requirements.
• Working outdoors in varying weather conditions.

The Material Handler is Responsible for:

• Pulling and staging building material products (lumber, cabinets, windows, doors, decking, siding)
• Safely loading and unloading materials on a variety of truck types including semi, box trucks and flat beds
• Assisting customers with loading materials
• Accurately completing shipping and inventory documents
• Operating forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently
• Adhering to all safety procedures and personal protection equipment (PPE) requirements
• Working outdoors in various weather conditions while staying adaptable and prepared

Requirements

• Experience working in a warehouse or distribution center
• Permanent authorization to work in the United States
• 18 Years or older
• Reliable transportation
• Physical capability to lift 50 lbs repetitively and up to 100 lbs in a team lift
• Commitment to safety and teamwork
• Availability to work during operating hours, M-F 7a-6p. Overtime as needed

Preferred Experience

• Knowledge of lumber and building materials
• Forklift operation experience
• Familiarity with (WMS) Warehouse Management Systems
