Job summary

Star Lumber & Supply Co., Inc. is seeking a motivated Material Handler to support our warehouse operations in Wichita. You will pull and stage building materials, load/unload from various truck types, assist customers, and maintain accurate shipping and inventory records.

The role requires warehouse experience, ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly and 100 lbs in a team lift, and a commitment to safety and teamwork. Overtime may be needed during peak periods.

Responsibilities

• Pull and stage building materials (lumber, cabinets, windows, doors, decking, siding).

• Adhere to safety procedures and PPE requirements.
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

The Material Handler is Responsible for:

• Pulling and staging building material products (lumber, cabinets, windows, doors, decking, siding)
• Safely loading and unloading materials on a variety of truck types including semi, box trucks and flat beds
• Assisting customers with loading materials
• Accurately completing shipping and inventory documents
• Operating forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently
• Adhering to all safety procedures and personal protection equipment (PPE) requirements
• Working outdoors in various weather conditions while staying adaptable and prepared

Requirements

• Experience working in a warehouse or distribution center
• Permanent authorization to work in the United States
• 18 Years or older
• Reliable transportation
• Physical capability to lift 50 lbs repetitively and up to 100 lbs in a team lift
• Commitment to safety and teamwork
• Availability to work during operating hours, M-F 7a-6p. Overtime as needed

Preferred Experience

• Knowledge of lumber and building materials
• Forklift operation experience
• Familiarity with (WMS) Warehouse Management Systems
