Job summary

The Hillman Group in Kansas City, MO is seeking a Material Handler to support distribution center operations. You will move materials using powered equipment, load/unload trucks, and stock inventory.

Shift hours are 3:30 PM – 1:00 AM (Mon-Thu) and 12:30 PM – 5:30 PM (Fri). The role pays $20.50 per hour plus shift differential and requires forklift certification and a high school diploma.

Responsibilities

• Operates powered, industrial equipment.

• Picks and stocks products to boxes and pick locations.
• Transfers finished products to designated areas.
• Stacks pallets and skids in designated areas.
• Operates pallet jack (manual or motorized).
• Reports problems to supervisor/manager.

Supports Operations by moving materials and finished products to designated areas in the facility with a variety of powered industrial equipment.

Essential Job Functions

• Operates a variety of powered, industrial equipment
• Loads and unloads trucks
• Ability to use a hand scanner
• Picks-up incoming materials from the Receiving dock
• Unloads and puts away stock in the Bulk storage area
• Provides replenishment materials to workstations in a timely manner
• Pulls and stocks correct product to appropriate boxes and pick locations
• Transfers finished products to designated areas
• Stacks empty skids and pallets in designated areas
• Operates a manual and/or motorized pallet jack
• Uses knowledge and experience to resolve basic operating problems; reports other problems to manger

Education & Experience

• High School diploma or GED equivalent required, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Competencies – Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Material handling experience is strongly preferred.
• Forklift Certification required.
• Familiarity with part numbering systems is a plus.
• Able to operate a pallet jack, forklift, order picker and Drexel.
• Able to work accurately from verbal and written instructions.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

Work Environment

Material Handler Must be forklift operation certified. Standing on concrete floors up to 8 hrs/day. Exposure to loud noise. Functional vision and hearing required.

Material Handler Medium - Heavy, lifting up to 70 lbs.
