Job summary

U.S. LUMBER is seeking a 1st Shift Material Handler (Forklift Operator) at our Duncan, SC facility. Hours are 6am–3pm, Monday to Friday, with an hourly rate of $18. This role involves loading, moving, and staging lumber materials and requires basic math skills and warehouse experience.

Responsibilities include safely operating forklifts, assisting with inventory, and ensuring accurate order fulfillment. Benefits include medical and retirement options; overtime opportunities may apply.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year warehouse distribution experience.
• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior lumber experience desired.
• Engineered lumber experience preferred.
• Forklift experience and certification preferred but not required.
• Basic math and analytical skills necessary.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with forklift operators to locate, pull, and stage materials for outgoing orders; safely package shipments.
• Safely operate forklifts or other machinery to load/unload, move, stage, pull orders and transport material; band, wrap, and tape as needed.
• Maintain clean, organized warehouse; ensure correct product placement and swept floors.
• Work cooperatively with Supervisors and colleagues to complete workload.
• Provide accurate, detail-focused service to customers and complete tasks on time.
• Assist with inventory variances, order accuracy, and track/trace issues.
• Read tickets and product codes.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

• Collaborate with forklift operators to efficiently locate, pull, and stage materials for outgoing orders. Safely package and secure shipments.
• Safely operate forklifts or other machinery (chainsaw) in order to complete assigned tasks including loading and unloading, moving, staging, pulling orders and transporting material. Band, wrap, and tape product as needed.
• Maintains condition of Warehouse work area, e.g. free of trash, product in correct location and organized, swept floors.
• Work cooperatively and productively with Supervisors and other employees in order to complete required workload.
• Provide and inspire outstanding service to customers by maintaining attention to detail, accuracy, quality and completing assigned work in a timely manner.
• Assist with inventory variances, order accuracy and track and trace issues.
• Reading and understanding tickets and the various codes for products.
• Must learn how to use a chainsaw and Holtec Industrial Saw.
• Must be able to read a tape measure. Accurately pull daily orders.

Required credentials:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of one (1) year warehouse distribution experience.
• Prior lumber experience desired.
• Engineered Lumber experience is preferred.
• Forklift experience and forklift certification preferred but not required.
• Must have basic math and analytical skills.
