Job summary

POET in Marion, OH is seeking a Material Handler to load dried distillers grains, ethanol, and other products into trucks and rail cars. You will work with mechanical equipment, meters and software to ensure timely deliveries and product safety.

The role requires on-site presence and adherence to safety and environmental standards. A successful candidate will have a high school diploma, willingness to operate heavy machinery, and the ability to obtain or hold DOT certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Material Handler I: no experience required; II: experience in similar role preferred.
• Experience operating heavy machinery or related loading equipment preferred.
• Experience loading/unloading trucks and rail cars preferred.
• DOT certification preferred.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to learn new programs.

Responsibilities

• Load trucks and rail cars with feed and fuel products to ensure timely delivery.
• Assist with grain product or biomass unloading functions.
• Complete grading of grain products or biomass as trained.
• Operate large machinery; may require DOT certification.
• Maintain a clean work area and follow safety rules.
• Enter bins following POET’s confined space procedures.
• Complete HAZMAT paperwork when necessary.
• Learn and operate all processes in the grains operation; perform maintenance as directed.
• Remove, install, rebuild, lubricate and clean equipment in the grains process.
• Work outdoors, weekends, and holidays; meet call-in requirements and long hours as needed.
• Assist with running the bioprocessing facility scale house and required software.
