Job summary

Mayville Engineering Company, Inc. is seeking a Material Handler to support manufacturing operations in Bedford. The role involves pulling materials, processing transactions, and ensuring schedules are met.

You will work with supervision and shift teams, maintain shop floor controls, and participate in safety and continuous improvement efforts; a high school diploma and 1 year experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of relevant experience and/or training preferred.
• Must have good organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
• Basic math and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Prints and distributes pick tickets and performs computer transactions as necessary.
• Organizes sequence of pulling material and relays information to Material Support.
• Ensures production schedules are met by timely and accurate processing and movement of goods.
• Assists during daily peak times to include operating material handling equipment and perform all necessary computer transactions.
• Monitors and enforces shop floor control systems.
• Follows safety procedures and wears proper PPE. Proactively identifies and corrects unsafe conditions.
• Studies systems and procedures for opportunities for improvement. Proposes changes to Materials Manager.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Ensures good communication and feedback with management, employees on their shift, and between shifts.
• When assigned, assists the supervisor/area manager with Continuous Improvement Projects, evaluation of new equipment, determination of training needs and interviewing/hiring.
• Monitors and enforces shop floor control systems.
• Follows all safety procedures, wears proper PPE. Proactively identifies and corrects unsafe conditions.
• Studies systems and procedures for opportunities for improvement. Proposes changes to Materials Manager.
• Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Some physical demand, often lifts light to heavy-weight material. Frequent lifting/moving average weight (up to 50 lbs/11-27 kgs) material.
• Ability to perform occasional to frequent pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, twisting, crawling and/or reaching over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
• Ability to operate motorized vehicles over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
